Dr. Charles McCollester, Professor in the Department of Industrial and Labor Relations, has served as the Director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Study of Labor Relations since 1999. The Center was established at IUP in 1976 to provide education, research and training for workers and their organizations and has been allied with the Labor Education Institute of the State System of Higher Education since 1999. Dr. McCollester came to IUP in 1986, when he was hired as Associate Director of the Center.

In 1991, he began teaching in the Department of Industrial and Labor Relations and in 1996, he began a three-year tenure as director of the National Environmental Education and Training Center at IUP. In 1999 and 2000, Dr. McCollester organized and taught in the IUP Summer in Poland program at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland and he has conducted research and/or consultation work in Sweden (1989), Poland (1991), Haiti (1995, 2003, and 2004) and Nicaragua (2000).

Dr. McCollester has directed or contributed to several grant-funded projects, including those funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the City of Duquesne , the Bureau of Workers' Compensation of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the Pennsylvania MILRITE Council, NEETC, Inc., and the State System of Higher Education.
