Cohort General Information

  • Students invested in this program will work alongside nationally accredited faculty in their areas of expertise and within a cohort program with students from various disciplinary backgrounds and similar educational goals.

    The Curriculum and Instruction program at IUP enables students to pursue their degree full-time or part-time from their choice of campuses: Main campus, the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg, or IUP Pittsburgh East. Cohorts at each campus are staggered every other year. The next cohort programs begin at IUP Pittsburgh East in fall 2021 and main campus in fall 2020. See the comparison of main campus and Harrisburg/Pittsburgh East programs for similarities and differences in schedules and course delivery at each site.

    IUP Main Campus

    • New students are admitted to main campus cohorts during even-numbered years (e.g., 2020, 2022, 2024).
    • It is possible to enroll prior to the start of the fall cohort and complete the six credits of electives.
    • Students have the option of earning the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction Certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in conjunction with their studies.
    • International students can be considered for admission to the program offered only at main campus and Pittsburgh East.

    IUP at Harrisburg and Pittsburgh

    • New students are admitted to Harrisburg and Pittsburgh cohorts during odd-numbered years (e.g., 2021, 2023, 2025).
    • Cohorts in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh are combined through a hybrid format that includes face-to-face and distance education instruction.
    • Classes delivered at Dixon University Center in Harrisburg and IUP Pittsburgh East near Monroeville are facilitated by IUP faculty for fall, spring, and summer semesters.
    • Required courses will meet at the Dixon University Center and Pittsburgh East from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for three Saturdays in addition to asynchronous online instruction during the fall, spring, and summer semesters
    • Students have the option of earning the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction Certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in conjunction with their studies.
