    In addition to the items listed below, you may want to bring along a copy of the campus map, or plan to use our interactive map, which can help with directions to campus and getting around while here.

    First-Year (Freshman) Summer Orientation

    All students (who are required to stay overnight in on-campus housing) and parents and family members choosing to stay in on-campus housing should plan to pack the following items for their overnight stay.

    • Required: Pillow and bedding (sheets, blanket for twin XL size bed) for your residence hall bed
    • Required: Towels, shower items, and toiletries
    • Casual clothing for two days
    • Sweater, or other cover-up, for during the day, as room temperatures vary
    • Change in coins, not bills, for evening snacks from vending machine, if desired
    • Small reading lamp
    • Umbrella (we move about campus, and it often rains heavily in the summer) 

    Parents Staying in an On-campus Residence Hall

    • Required : Pillow and bedding (sheets, blanket for twin XL size bed) for your residence hall bed
    • Required : Towels, shower items, and toiletries
    • Small reading lamp
    • Umbrella (we move about campus, and it often rains heavily in the summer)
    • Change in coins, not bills, for evening snacks from vending machine, if desired
    • Casual clothing; layers are recommended due to the temperature variations between building and the outside

    Internet Access

    The IUP residence hall you’ll be staying in will have computer labs available and guest passwords available. Wireless may be available in the residence hall; see the hall directors on site.

    Several local coffee shops, and eateries, within easy walking distance from program locations and open into the evening, do have wireless access.

    Transfer, Spring, and Northpointe Orientations

    Students and their family members attending a one-day program, or a two-day program with off-campus housing, should consider bringing along the following items. 

    Students

    • A sweater or other light jacket, as internal building temperatures can be difficult to control
    • Testing information you may have received
