    COVID-19 Pandemic Update: Fall 2020

The Crimson Youth Choir will not be meeting this fall due to health concerns and limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We are hopeful that it can be offered in the spring 2021 semester, but it obviously depends on the situation with the pandemic.

However, registration for both online and in-person private lessons is OPEN and will be ongoing and rolling throughout the semester. For more information on lessons, please see the Private Lessons page.

For additional information from the IUP Community Music School, please see the IUPCMS home page, and for more information from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, please see the comprehensive Coronavirus Information page.

The Crimson Youth Choir provides choral singing opportunities for primary and secondary students within the IUP Community Music School.

It is currently divided into two groups—the Crimson Children’s Choir (CCC) and Voce. The CCC is generally for younger and less experienced singers, and Voce is a select audition-only ensemble comprised of middle and high school students.

Both ensembles function and learn music separately, but also combine to perform as one larger choir.

The CCC will rehearse from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.* as they work on proper singing, breathing, reading music, matching pitch, diction, etc. They can be combined with Voce on a schedule determined by the director.

Voce will rehearse from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.* as they work on their more select repertoire. High school age students with Friday night commitments will be excused as needed; members may also come early to also work with the CCC, as determined by the director. In addition Voce member will participate in two to three workshops (dates TBD) where they will arrange their own a capella songs and work on ensemble techniques.

*Note: These are NEW rehearsal times! They are slightly later than last year to accommodate the directors public school teaching and travel distance to IUP.

Depending on enrollment, there may also be an opportunity for Voce to work as a jazz choir with guest clinician.
