Established in 1975, the Laurel Highlanders Pipes and Drums have a rich history. The IUP Community Music School is proud to offer a class in this unique and historic instrument!
Description
In this introductory course, students will learn to play a practice chanter, striving for excellence in rudimentary fingering, tone production, and performance of songs. With serious practice, students should be able to perform with a Scottish pipe band in six months to one year.

The Highland Bagpipe Tutor Book 1 (formerly The College of Piping Volume 1, aka "the Green book"). Available on the Piper's Hut website. This is the book, practice chanter, and two reeds. Purchase of the metronome is optional; there are many free metronome apps for your phone that will work just fine.
