As a student pursuing your Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management, the customized curriculum enables you to exceed local, regional, national, and international anticipated workforce qualifications.  We provide a dedicated focus on forging new collaborative programing with our hospitality industry friends to leverage Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management faculty expertise and IUP resources (Allenwood).  We provide unparallel academic advising, faculty mentorship, and encourage student engagement with memberships in professional organizations the Club Managers Association of America and Meeting (CMAA)Professionals International (MPI). 

BS in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management

  • Classroom studies are not theoretical. You'll cover topics in several operational areas (see below). You'll also explore practical skills, such as preparing a resume and presenting during a job interview. Every part of your education is geared toward landing your first job.
  • You'll complete 47 credits of specific Hospitality Management core credits. These courses build a solid foundation in management. 
  • Customize your education in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management by selecting 12 credits of specific courses based upon your career interests.   
  • Each student gains valuable professional experience by completing two internship industry work experiences.   Guided by mentoring faculty, we help each student to identify the professional work experience to best maximize your career goals.  

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the bachelor of science in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Event Management program, students will be able to:

  1. Acquire and apply the knowledge and skills necessary for hospitality operations
  2. Acquire and integrate a core set of business skills necessary to successfully operate a hospitality organization
  3. Acquire and apply necessary communication skills for hospitality management
  4. Apply analytical skills to formulate business decisions in hospitality management
  5. Evaluate leadership principles necessary in the diverse and global hospitality management industry.
