Milestone Generosity: Winter 2017

IUP has received the following support in the form of gifts of $25,000 or more, made through the Foundation for IUP. The university community thanks all who invest in IUP and its students.

  • $150,000 from the Addison Gibson Foundation in support of merit and need-based scholarships
  • $250,000 from Bonnie Harbison Anderson ’80 in support of the Future of Science and Mathematics at IUP
  • $100,000 from James Ashton ’64 and Virginia Harrigan Ashton ’64 in support of the Ginnie and Skip Ashton Scholarship for Football
  • $41,000 from Mario Gabelli and the Gabelli Foundation in support of the Sutton Scholarship and the Fund for IUP
  • $25,000 from John Hranitz ’63, M’70, D’73 to establish the Dr. John R. and Dolores E. Popp Hranitz Scholarship in support of students in the College of Education and Communications and in the College of Health and Human Services
  • $50,000 from Scott Hunter to establish a scholarship in honor of his parents, the late Dorothy Beale Hunter ’41 and the late James Hunter ’43
  • $1 million from William Madia ’69, M’71 and Audrey DeLaquil Madia ’70 in support of the Future of Science and Mathematics at IUP
  • $35,000 from Howard Puterman ’86 and Kathryn Puterman to establish the Hap Scholarship in support of students in Eberly College of Business and Information Technology
  • $30,000 from the Leonard A. and Mary Jane Schafer (Mary Jane McMurray Schafer ’31) Foundation in support of the Lively Arts at IUP and the Fund for IUP Libraries
  • In excess of $1 million from the Estate of Edward Sims ’53 in support of a visiting artist and scholar program in the Department of Music
