    The interdisciplinary nature of the Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science Department, with its multiple nationally accredited programs, provides a diverse setting for intense and rewarding study. You will choose your focus and yet also mingle with students whose differing interests will enhance your understanding of this expanding field.

    BSEd in Health and Physical Education

    • Prepare to become an excellent, dedicated, and effective educator with deep reserves of knowledge.
    • Expand your awareness of trending health and fitness issues.
    • Promote the lifelong advantages of fitness to students in grades K-12.
    • Instill well-being in the minds of young learners.
    • Qualify for an Instructional I Certificate for teaching both health and physical education in grades K-12.

    BS in Physical Education and Sport/K-12 Teacher Education

    • Feed your passion for a nonteaching profession by choosing among four specialty programs.
    • Create a career mindset that may lead you to industries such as community fitness, cardiac rehabilitation, sports medicine, or sport team management.
    • Advance health and fitness awareness by making leadership an important element of your career goals.
    • Qualify for a national credential that opens doors to an eventful career.

    BS in Physical Education and Sport/Pre-Athletic Training

    • Coursework gives you the scientific background you’ll need to apply to graduate schools for athletic training (the master’s level was recently established by accrediting agencies as the professional level needed for this field)
    • Option available to combine this degree with our Master’s Degree in Athletic Training and complete both degrees a year sooner, saving time and money (3+2 program)

    BS in Athletic Training**

    • Students will no longer be admitted into the BS in Athletic Training program as of December 2017. See note below for more information and check out our Pre-Athletic Training bachelor’s degree and Athletic Training master’s degree.
    • Master skills that allow you to contribute to the allied health profession recognized by the American Medical Association.
    • Establish your expertise in a field that is responsible for the evaluation and rehabilitation of athletes that suffer from injuries incurred during organized sports and exercise.
    • Dedicate yourself to the well-being of amateur and professional athletes nationwide.
    • Qualify to become a member of an athletic health care team in a school or for professional sports.

    BS in Physical Education and Sport/Exercise Science

    • Accomplish the skills and standards necessary for employment with private and commercial fitness clubs, medical fitness facilities, and other sports organizations.
    • Advance your understanding of strength and conditioning, as well as clinical fitness procedures used in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
    • Pursue graduate studies that prepare you for a career in exercise physiology, physical and occupational therapy, and chiropractic.

    BS in Physical Education and Sport/Sport Administration

    Minor in Sport Management

    • The 18-credit minor in Sport Management will help you understand the business behind athletics and prepare you for fields in which you will be asked to effectively execute events, facilitate operations, and motivate employees.
    • You will learn the laws regarding sports as well as look into the financial side of the sport industry.

    Athletic Coaching Certificate

    • You will have a chance to earn a variety of certifications, including CPR, American Sport Education Program Coaching Certification, or Certified Special Olympics Coach.
    • The majority of this certification can be completed online during the winter and summer so it will not hold up your graduation. Students must complete the Athletic Coaching Approval form in order to be eligible for the certification.

    Driver Education Certificate

    • Enrich your teaching certificate with this unique add-on certification program for those pursuing the BSEd degree.
    • Four courses are required for this certification.
