Tuition Waiver Eligibility and Benefit Details: APSCUF

  • Active APSCUF Employees

    Eligibility Criteria:

    The active APSCUF employee must be permanent, full-time (100 percent) and in an active pay status or, if temporary, employed at least 50 percent (six credits) for two back-to-back fall/spring or spring/fall semesters. 

    Tuition Waiver Benefit:

    Active Full-Time APSCUF Employee

    • 100 percent waiver of tuition for an unlimited number of undergraduate or graduate credits
    • Waiver of Activity, Health, Technology, and Transportation fees
    • IUP or any Pennsylvania State System school

    Active Part-Time APSCUF Employee > No tuition waiver benefit

    Spouse of Full-Time Active APSCUF Employee

    • 100 percent waiver of tuition until spouse receives first undergraduate degree.    
    • Waiver of Activity, Technology, and Transportation fees
    • IUP only—no tuition waiver benefit at other State System schools
    • No tuition waiver benefit for graduate credits

    Spouse of Part-Time Active APSCUF Employee > No tuition waiver benefit

    Child of Full-Time Active APSCUF Employee

    • IUP: 100 percent waiver of tuition up to two full years* past the date of completion of the child’s first undergraduate degree and waiver of Technology Fee. *indefinite if child is dependent for IRS purposes.
    • Other State System schools: 50 percent waiver of tuition up to the child’s first undergraduate degree or age 25, whichever occurs first, and 50 percent discount of Technology Fee.
    • No tuition waiver benefit for graduate credits.

    Child of Part-Time Active APSCUF Employee

    • IUP: 100 percent waiver of tuition up to two full years* past the date of completion of the child’s first undergraduate degree and waiver of Technology Fee. *Indefinite if child is dependent for IRS purposes.
    • Other State System schools: no tuition waiver benefit
    • No tuition waiver benefit for graduate credits.

    Retired APSCUF Employees

    Eligibility Criteria:

    An APSCUF retiree must meet one of the below criteria at the time of tuition waiver application:

    • Be at or above superannuation age (age 60) with at least 10 years of service exclusively with State System of Higher Education. 
    • Be any age with at least 35 years of service exclusively with the State System of Higher Education.

    Tuition Waiver Benefit:

    Retired APSCUF employee > no tuition waiver benefit

    Spouse of Retired APSCUF employee > no tuition waiver benefit

    Child of APSCUF Retiree

    • IUP: 100 percent waiver of tuition up to the child’s first undergraduate degree or age 25, whichever occurs first
    • Other State System schools: 50 percent waiver of tuition up to the child’s first undergraduate degree or age 25, whichever occurs first
    • Waiver of Technology Fee
    • No tuition waiver benefit for graduate credits

    Permanently Disabled or Deceased APSCUF Employees

    Eligibility Criteria:

    The permanently disabledAPSCUF employee must have at least 10 years of service with the State System of Higher Education and became permanently disabled while an active employee.

    The deceased APSCUF employee must have had at least 10 years of service with the State System of Higher Education and deceased while an active employee.

    Tuition Waiver Benefit:

    Permanently Disabled or Deceased APSCUF Employee > no tuition waiver benefit

    Spouse of Permanently Disabled or Deceased APSCUF Employee > no tuition waiver benefit

    Child of Permanently Disabled or Deceased APSCUF Employee

    • 100 percent waiver of tuition up to two full years* of undergraduate study past the date of completion of the child’s first undergraduate degree. * Indefinite if child is dependent for IRS purposes
    • Waiver of Technology Fee
