Natural Sciences and Mathematics Living-Learning Community

  • The Natural Sciences and Mathematics Living-Learning Community is located in Northern Suites,  next to Weyandt Hall. Students are encouraged to collaborate to form study groups, develop mentoring relationships, attend available tutoring, and discuss current events as they affect scientific and mathematic discoveries, ethics, and the environment.

    LLC Highlights

    • The Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics works closely with Northern Suites staff to provide services, communications, and programs to all students who are interested.
    • The Northern Suites staff works directly with student organizations, such as Alpha Chi Sigma, to enhance the programs that are being done and strengthen the resources provided to students in this college.
    • Northern Suites is home to several fossil replicas that are displayed throughout the community for students to engage with.
    • Students can take advantage of the lobby areas and study spaces in Northern Suites to actively practice what they learn in the classrooms.
    • The “In our Element” Chemistry Linked Living-Learning Community provides increased academic and social networking with Chemistry professors, alumni mentors, and peers.

    Clusters in this LLC

    • Mathematics, Computer Science, and Psychology Cluster: This cluster is designed to allow students within these disciplines to connect, interact, and study with one another outside of the classroom in a conducive environment.
    • Women in Math, Science, and Technology Cluster: provides a supportive and engaging environment for women pursuing a career in a math, science, or technology-related field
    • Natural Science Cluster: The Natural Science Cluster provides a location and environment for students to study together and assist their peers with the materials covered in their classes.
    • Safety Science Cluster: offers members of this living-learning community an opportunity to participate in out-of-classroom programs and activities pertaining to that major.
