Global Awareness Living Learning Community

Global Awareness Living Learning Community (LLC) is located in Wallwork Hall. It is home to both first-year and upper-class students, as well as a diverse mixture of both domestic and international students.

LLC highlights

• Experience the music, histories, cultures, and foods from around the world.
• Explore your own cultural identity and how it relates to others throughout the world.
• Hold monthly Global Adventure Series, which allow students to enrich their culture experience.
• Host “Global Café: on-going orientations for international students and scholars” to help them make a smooth transition to IUP and the United States.
• Collaborate with other campus resources and student organizations to plan and implement various cross-cultural programs.
• “Cultural Expansion” Book Club facilitated by Living Learning faculty members and students in the community.
• An ideal community for new international students and domestic student who desire to expand their cultural knowledge through interactions and their engagement.

Clusters in this LLC

• Spanish Language Cluster (formerly Piso Cervantes): This cluster is to provide a living environment where students can practice speaking Spanish and learning about Hispanic cultures by planning and participating in events and activities. Students who are native or heritage Spanish speaker and those who plan to take Spanish language classes are encouraged to live in this cluster. 
• Asian Studies Cluster: Asian Studies cluster provides students enrolled in the Asian Studies major (or having a minor in Asian Studies) with a community immersed in the Asian culture. The residential learning community will complement in-class learning by offering students a variety of co-curricular experiences designed to maximize their exposure to and understanding of Asian culture and customs.
