Self-care services will be offered by calling 724-357-2550 and talking with a nurse. We ask that students do not present to our office for medication without calling first.
A self-care service is located within the waiting area of the Health Service. Over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies, condoms, educational materials, and instruction sheets for self care are available.
The following self-care items are available free of charge:
- Acetaminophen/Tylenol - fever reducer, analgesic
- Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil - fever reducer, analgesic
- Phenylephrine- relieves nasal congestion
- Chlorphen - relieves upper respiratory allergy symptoms
- Robafen - cough expectorant
- Cough drops/throat lozenges
- Antibiotic ointment/bandaids
- Disposable oral thermometers
- Condoms
Be sure to take an active role in your health care by:
- Taking medication as directed
- Returning for follow-up visits as needed
- Practicing good healthcare habits (i.e., washing your hands frequently, eating well, getting enough exercise and sleep, maintain healthy relationships, and reducing stress)
To use the Self-Care Center, simply swipe your I-Card at the Health Service kiosk and request Self-Care Medication. Go to the Self-Care area and choose the medication or information you would like. Take the colored form to the window and receive your
items.
