Fire drills in residence halls are planned events coordinated through OHRL Staff and University Police. The GRD/residential director will be responsible for facilitating drills and will contact the University Police dispatcher to notify University Police of the scheduled drill. University Police will dispatch an officer to the building at the agreed time to activate a pull station.
*Note: OHRL staff will no longer have the simplex key for the pull stations and fire alarm panel. The University Police will activate and reset the panel for all scheduled drills and complete a complaint report which will include the following information:
In buildings with an intercom system, only University Police will access and utilize intercom for safety/security-related issues during any activation of the fire alarms.
Procedures for response to fire alarms by the Office of Housing and Residence Life and the University Police will remain unchanged.
