MA TESOL Program Planning Worksheet

  • The courses offered in the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) MA at IUP prepare students to excel in a variety of career choices, particularly teaching at the community-college level or teaching abroad. All classes in the TESOL MA are offered in a traditional course format.

    Below are the required courses for the TESOL MA:

    ENGL 649: Introduction to Research in TESOL & Applied Linguistics

    ENGL 724: Second Language Acquisition

    ENGL 725: Second Language Literacy

    Teacher Education Component (6 S.H.)

    ENGL 688: Practicum in TESOL

    ENGL 694: Observations of English Teaching

    TESOL Research Component: Thesis Track Only (6 S.H.)

    6 thesis credit hours are required in addition to:

    ENGL 749: Advanced Research Seminar
