Teach and Cultivate Minds, Globally

The MA program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages uniquely focuses on theory-to-practice teacher preparation, empowering you as a teacher-scholar to conduct your own individualized research and preparing you to excel in a variety of teaching scenarios, from community college classrooms to teaching abroad, or even pursue a doctoral degree.

What the MA in TESOL offers:

  • The TESOL master's program situates teaching English as an international language (TEIL) as a social, cultural, historical, and political endeavor, giving you full insight into TEIL as a contextually driven practice.
  • For a two-semester course sequence, you'll work with mentor faculty in the classroom. You can gain field experience in several ways, such as designing lesson plans and working hands-on with students in small groups.
  • Graduates of this program are uniquely qualified for a range of teaching experiences either at home or abroad, excelling as both teachers and scholars in their field.
