At the heart of my work and more broadly, my being, I am a humanist. I work hard to connect to clients in a meaningful way and trust that the relationship, in and of itself, is healing. It is not my role to be the expert in the room, but rather to help the client to become the expert in their own life.
Just as in therapy, I take the same approach to my work as a supervisor, instructor, and as a guy in line at the grocery store. In short, the relationship is the foundation for growth, whether it be brief or enduring.
The therapeutic relationship/working alliance, therapist self-disclosure, countertransference, trauma work, and creativity in the therapeutic process.
