Facilities for the Media and Communication Studies PhD

The department facilities include an audio recording lab, an animation studio, a digital television studio, a digital radio station, a graphics lab, a digital photography lab, a games and simulations center, as well as the Center for Media Production and Research.

As the program includes production requirements that immerse students in media development, the PhD program utilizes these resources to develop and enhance students' production skills.

The Center for Media Production and Research serves real clients through grant and other funding sources. The department also operates and programs the university's cable television (WIUP-TV) and radio (WIUP-FM) stations, which serve the local area. Students in the PhD program will have opportunities to work in these areas as graduate assistants and as project volunteers in relation to their course work.
