American Chemical Society

American Chemical Society club members participate in volunteer work within the community, hold weekly meetings, and offer free tutoring.Projects have included volunteer water sampling of abandoned mine drainage.

Alpha Chi Sigma

Alpha Chi Sigma service fraternity welcomes all students from science-related majors and faculty. Membership includes weekly meetings that encourage cooperation and friendship.

American Medical Student Association

American Medical Student Association provides monthly meetings where students make presentations about their internship experiences. Guest speakers also enhance the meetings.

Freshman Honors Society

The Freshman Honors Society includes biology and chemistry majors and offers scholarship opportunities.

Scholarship Opportunities

Throughout their academic career, chemistry students have opportunities for academic scholarships and awards. These include scholarships for incoming freshmen, graduate assistantships, and several awards for academic excellence and university service.

Mentoring Program

Alumni are willing to serve as professional mentors to current chemistry and biochemistry students, provide guidance and encouragement to upper-level students, and help with the transition from undergraduate studies to graduate school or to the workforce.

Medical College-IUP Physician Shortage Area Program

A cooperative Family Medicine Physician Education Program has been established by IUP and Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia for the purpose of improving the distribution of physicians in Pennsylvania.
