Job Fairs

Job fairs are a convenient way to make one-to-one contact with a variety of employers in one place at one time. The Career and Professional Development Center promotes local and regional events and provides preparatory programs to make the job fair “work” for you. Some of the annual fairs IUP's Career and Professional Development Center sponsors or co-sponsors include:

Accounting Career Fair

The Accounting Fair, held mid-September each year, enables accounting majors to meet employers from public accounting firms, government agencies, and financial services companies. It is open to freshmen through seniors, graduate students, and alumni, as well as finance majors and any candidate with at least six credits in accounting.

The morning session is exclusively for IUP students. The afternoon session is open to IUP students and accounting/finance majors from other western Pennsylvania universities.

Career Expo

Students have the opportunity to meet representatives from local and national companies and organizations. Employers will be looking for individuals for full-time positions, as well as internships and co-ops. The Career Expo, traditionally held during the end of September or beginning of October, also provides you an opportunity to explore employers and career opportunities that you may have never thought about.

The Career Expo offers employers with entry-level, internship, and co-op positions an opportunity to meet in one central location with alumni, graduating students, and upperclassmen. Candidates attending will be IUP students or IUP graduates with associate, bachelor, and/or graduate degrees. Employers will be able to speak with candidates, distribute recruitment literature, and conduct brief interviews.

Pittsburgh Educational Recruiting Consortium

A teacher recruiting fair for seniors and alumni, PERC is held in Monroeville each spring. Typically, over 150 school districts from around the US attend to interview teacher candidates. Preregistration is required and a small fee is charged. Contact the Career and Professional Development Center for registration information. Candidates from the consortium member colleges must preregister through their own university's career centers. On-site registration is available at an additional charge.

Spring Career Fair

The IUP Spring Career Fair provides an opportunity for students to explore part-time and full-time jobs and internship opportunities in a wide variety of fields, including criminology, health care, summer employment, government, and public service. The fair is open to employers in all fields seeking students from any of IUP's more than 175 academic majors and certificate programs for full-time, part-time, seasonal, and internship employment.
