1. Send an email to Maureen Bash at mbash@iup.edu indicating the internship offer and include a job description in the major area of the student-intern you intend to hire. For example, if you plan to hire a marketing major, then the job description should be in the area of marketing. Please also tell us how you would like students to apply for the internship (e.g., by email, on your website, etc.).

  2. Our office will promote the internship opening to students via email, digital advertising, faculty recommendations, social media platforms, and word of mouth.

  3. When you are satisfied with applicants, the interview process begins. The Eberly College is equipped with a designated suite for interviews, including a reception area and private office rooms. If you would like to use our interviewing space in Eberly Suite 301 to conduct interviews, please contact Maureen Bash at mbash@iup.edu. We are located at the address below.

  4. Once you are ready to extend an offer to a student, please email him or her a formal offer of employment and a job description and copy Maureen Bash at mbash@iup.edu. Our office will review these materials and mail you an agreement form to be signed and returned.

  5. The student will complete the internship for three, six, nine, or 12 credits. For every credit, the student is expected to work for 40 hours. So, for a three-credit internship, the student will work at the site for 120 hours.

  6. It is expected that the nature of the learning experience is challenging, primarily in the area of student's major, and does not include a clerical/secretarial/repetitive component.

  7. The student will submit daily logs and an internship report to his/her faculty supervisor at the university. You may want to review them.

  8. During the internship, you will be asked to send us one or two performance evaluations of the intern. If considered appropriate, the faculty supervisor of the intern will visit the internship site.
