The mission of the Research Institute is to advance the research agenda and educational objectives of Indiana University of Pennsylvania by encouraging, promoting, conducting, administering, and supporting research in the natural sciences, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, education, health and human services, business, information technology, and other academic disciplines.

Available Positions

Position:  Fiscal Assistant

Location:  Indiana, PA.

The IUP Research Institute is a non-profit organization affiliated with Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This position reports to the Executive Director and serves as fiscal support for the fiscal department and other staff members of the IUP Research Institute. Exceptional customer service is essential for successful interaction with IUP administration, funding agencies, and researchers. Full time, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday. Salary dependent on experience.  Benefits include paid vacation, sick and holiday time, medical insurance and 401(k). 

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing/procurement process for all sponsored project related purchases
  • Coordinates all travel arrangements for sponsored project personnel and Research Institute staff
  • Accounts Payable for sponsored projects
  • Data entry for credit card purchases
  • Provides backup for Research Institute fiscal staff

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Moderate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher) and Adobe
  • 1-3 years fiscal experience
  • BlackBaud Financial Edge or QuickBooks experience preferred
  • Experience with sponsored projects/research administration preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Communicate effectively (orally and written) with a variety of individuals
  • Sit, stand, and move around office and campus
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as personal computer, printer, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary

Candidate must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills – both oral and written and perform well in the interviews; ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated.

Position:  Grant and Contract Specialist 

Location:  Indiana, PA.

The IUP Research Institute is a non-profit organization affiliated with Indiana University of Pennsylvania. This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for cultivating, developing and administering all sponsored projects through IUP and the IUP Research Institute. Exceptional customer service is essential for successful interaction with IUP administration, funding agencies, and researchers. Full time, 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday. Salary dependent on experience.  Benefits include paid vacation, sick and holiday time, medical insurance and 401(k).

Responsibilities

  • Assist IUP personnel with researching and identifying potential federal, state and private external funding opportunities
  • Provide technical assistance and support to IUP faculty and staff with the review and submission of grant proposals
  • Develop and refine budgets for sponsored projects, including personnel costs, participant support costs, supplies, travel and other direct costs, including post award budget modification
  • Ensure projects operate in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and agency requirements including OMB Uniform Guidance
  • Monitor ongoing program activity and expenditures to ensure deliverables and/or reporting requirements are met on time and according to agency requirements
