The IUP String Area is hosting an IUP Cellobration Day on Saturday, November 12, featuring guest cellist Janet Anthony and IUP faculty member Linda Jennings. The theme of the Festival is Social Justice through Music – Building Leaders Using Music Education in Haiti. Anthony will share her experiences mentoring music students and teachers in Haiti over the past 30 years.
The IUP String Project, a community music education outreach program for children ages 5–18 in Indiana and the surrounding area, is now accepting applications for private lesson instruction on violin, viola, cello, and bass. Applications are due on September 1. An IUP String Project Open House will kick off the season on Saturday, September 10. Lessons will begin the week of September 12.

Ten members of the IUP Tuba and Euphonium Studio recently traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to participate in the International Euphonium and Tuba Festival, held June 19–26, 2022, at Emory University. The IUP tuba and euphonium players, all members of the IUP Tubaphonium Ensemble, were invited, along with their professor, Zach Collins, to be featured performers during the festival. Zach Collins was also featured as a resident composer.
The 2022 PMEA Summer Conference, the first in-person since 2019, was held in Reading, Pa. July 18-19. Tim Paul was selected to present a conducting clinic entitled "Proper Hinge Use = Healthy Conductors."
The IUP DMLGA was held June 27–July 1, 2022, on IUP’s campus. Seventy applicants, ranging from ninth graders to high school seniors registered to be a part of the camp.
The IUP Department of Music held its first Summer Music Camp June 26–July 2, 2022. More than 50 seventh- through 12th-grade student musicians participated in the week-long camp.

IUP piano professor Henry Wong Doe received an Arts Grant from Creative New Zealand (Arts Council of New Zealand) of NZ$65,690 (approximately US$40,375) for his upcoming commissioning and recording project "Perspectives."
IUP senior music education and music performance major Kayla Holsopple earned second place in the Artist Division Solo Competition at the International Euphonium and Tuba Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, in June 2022.

IUP music alumna Rebecca Edmondson ’78 was recently recognized as the 2022 Hancock County Teacher of the Year. Edmondson teaches at Conners-Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Maine, where she has taught since 1990.
The IUP Alumni Jazz Band performed on Sunday, April 24, 2022, as part of the annual IUP Jazz Festival. Twenty-five alumni spanning seven decades (1965 to 2021) assembled on Saturday to rehearse in preparation for Sunday's performance.
In a first-of-its-kind performance, the IUP Music Department and the College of Arts and Humanities will present a concert by the IUP Alumni Percussion Ensemble on Saturday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m. The group is comprised of 20 performers spanning over five decades of percussion instruction and performance at IUP.

Assistant professor of piano at Lee University, Joong Han (Jonathan) Jung will give a solo piano recital on Monday, February 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Gorell Recital Hall (second floor of Sutton Hall). His program will include works by J.S. Bach, Liszt, Ravel, and Prokofiev. Admission is free.
