This workshop will discuss the concept of positivity promoted by the field of Positive Psychology. It will relate positivity to emotions, relationships and other areas of life with an emphasis on strategies to increase positivity in one's own life. This workshop will also discuss the importance of integrating positivity interventions in work with students in schools or clients receiving counseling or therapy services in behavioral healthcare settings.

Objectives

  1. Define positivity.
  2. Describe the domains of positivity.
  3. List benefits of increasing positivity.
  4. Compile at least five positive emotions, and three or more strategies to increase positive emotions.
  5. Demonstrate three or more ways to increase positivity in relationships, accomplishments or add meaning to one's life.
Target Audience: Clinical personnel, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, educators. Introductory level. CE credits offered = 1.5 contact hours
