About Management

The department is committed to providing undergraduate—and graduate education, executive education, and training for professionals in business and other organizations in management disciplines. We provide high-quality, relevant education to our students while emphasizing the learning of the body of knowledge of the management disciplines as well as critical—and integrative thinking, analytical—and problem-solving skills, effective oral—and written communication, interpersonal skills, positive attitude, technology, and overall commitment to lifetime learning.

The department believes in continually updating its curriculum with respect to content and pedagogy while being committed to continuously improving quality of education and attracting a growing national and international student body. In addition to excelling in-classroom course delivery, the faculty is committed to providing academic and career advising to students, providing students with opportunities for experiential education, and encouraging participation in professional student organizations and other professional—and extracurricular activities.

About Hospitality Management

The Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Special Event Management, or “Hospitality Management” program encapsulates the following segments: Lodging, Travel, Assembly and Event Management, Restaurant and Managed Services and Recreation. We offer transferable skills to pursue management career opportunities as an entrepreneur or within global operational systems, including corporate support centers, supply chain and logistics management, restaurants, tourism, special events, hotels, resorts, clubs, beverage operations, theme parks, contract food services, gaming operations, catering, cruise lines, sales and other travel-related venues and service-related careers. Our alumni are currently employed in banking, health care, insurance, real estate, and other service industries.

The Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Special Event Management Industry invites career opportunities for affiliated IUP undergraduate majors, such as Management, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources Management, International Business, Accounting, Criminology, Sport Administration, Journalism and Public Relations. These students become strong internal candidates for one of the Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Special Event Management minors.

Students pursue international studies in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism, and Special Event Management with our current partner programs The International College of Management in Sydney, Australia (ICMS) and SAI, Florence Italy.
