All applicants to a graduate program at IUP must submit official transcripts from all degree-awarding colleges and universities.
While unofficial transcripts are accepted for admissibility purposes, admitted students are required to submit official paper or electronic (e-transcript) transcripts directly to IUP's Graduate Admissions Office at the mailing address/email below. These transcripts must come directly from the registrar of your previous institution(s) and, if mailed, must remain sealed until their arrival at IUP's Graduate Admissions Office to ensure their validity.
Official transcripts from institutions where a degree was earned must be degree-conferred. This means that the transcript must indicate that a degree was earned at that institution.
If you are applying while in the process of earning a degree, a hold will be place on your account until we receive updated transcripts that show a degree was conferred. A hold will also be placed on your account for any other unofficial transcripts until officials are received. These holds would prevent you from registering for courses in your second term.
If courses were taken in high school or as a part of a study abroad program, we do not need to receive a copy of those transcripts. If this applies to you, please send an email to grad-documents@iup.edu and we will be able to mark the transcript as not required.
IUP students and alumni are not required to submit official transcripts for degree(s) earned at IUP.
Per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, transcripts received at IUP from other institutions cannot be released. All materials submitted in support of your application become property of IUP. The university scans documents into an electronic application file and destroys the paper copy shortly after. We are unable to return any original or official documents to students.
