Developmental Studies faculty member Amber Racchini recently published "Embedded Tutoring: One Initiative to Help Struggling Students" in the journal Currents in Teaching and Learning.
In the article, Racchini discusses utilizing an embedded tutor in a liberal studies history course and the impact on student grades. This study discovered that students who regularly utilized an embedded tutor outperformed their peers. This study concluded that due to the cost savings, flexibility of the model, and positive impact on students' final grades, an Embedded Tutoring Model is a viable option to support courses that have high D/F/W rates.
