Audition Information

  • Due to restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, IUP is extending our audition period through the summer. We accept video-recorded auditions anytime for Theater, Musical-Theater, and Dance Arts auditions.

    Instructions for Sending Your Video Audition

    1. Upload your audition videos to YouTube or Vimeo.

    2. Create an account.

    3. Set it to private.

    4. Provide a name and the password to view the videos.

    5. Attach a résumé, headshot, and links/password to a new email sent to either Rob Gretta or Holly Boda-Sutton as listed above.

    6. Letters of recommendation are not needed, but are helpful to us in understanding how to best help you begin your program at IUP.

    Since these are challenging times, we will also provisionally accept students into the Theater or Dance Arts programs without audition, and then audition you in the fall to determine the program for which you best suited, including Musical Theater.

    Theater, Dance, and Musical Theater Audition Dates

    Dance TheaterOnce you have been accepted to IUP and have chosen one of our majors, you will receive an invitation to register for an audition date. Auditions are part of our Fine Arts Days program and are required for acceptance into all of our major programs.

    Audition Dates for Fall 2020 Admission

    On-campus auditions are canceled. Audition by submitting video and a résumé as noted above.

    Programs of Study

    We offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in three areas. Each degree offers both breadth and depth, allowing for exploration and concentrated study. Our interdisciplinary degrees offer flexibility across strong, nationally accredited programs.

    Since 1995, our theater programs have been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theater, and its FAQ page is a good resource for thinking about majoring in theater in higher education.
