Jillian Black, a sophomore early childhood/special education major, won the 2020 Women's Leadership Award for the sophomore class.

Jillian is actively involved on campus and within her community. Her activities include the following.

  • Secretary of PTM (Pre-Service Teachers in Mathematics Club)

  • Peer tutor for IUP students
  • Volunteer teaching assistant
  • Tutor for elementary school students

“It is my absolute honor to receive the Women's Leadership Award. I love helping others, and IUP has allowed me to grow as a leader and a woman,” said Jillian. “I cannot wait to inspire other women, but more importantly future educators. I cannot wait to continue to serve at IUP and in my community. I believe that with kindness and service the world will be a better place. I have women who are strong role models educating me, and I have amazing peers to work alongside. The IUP Education Department is truly amazing!”
