Nancy Newkerk Scholarship
The Nancy Newkerk Scholarship honors an outstanding, retired IUP student affairs educator and is awarded to a SAHE student upon completion of their first academic year in the program.
The recipient will be selected by the SAHE faculty upon consideration of the submitted application, two letters of support from higher education administrators (preferably student affairs educators) with whom the student worked during their first year of the program, a resume, and a self-statement. To be eligible, students must be in good academic standing.
Get Involved! SAHE Student Leadership Award
Tom Baker ('05) has initiated the Get Involved! SAHE Student Leadership Award, to be presented annually to one first-year SAHE student. The student must be enrolled full-time in the SAHE program and be in their first year within the program. The selection committee will be looking for nominees who have a sincere interest in bettering the SAHE community, who are making a difference in the campus where they work, and who have made a positive difference through involvement outside of work.
Annual Award: $250 for books and also a Get Involved! SAHE Student Leadership Award plaque.
The School of Graduate Studies and Research Funds
The School of Graduate Studies and Research has funds available to support the research efforts and professional development of currently enrolled graduate students. Please see the Graduate Student Research webpage for guidelines and application instructions for the funds listed below.
- Graduate Student Travel: This fund supports graduate students who are presenting papers at professional meetings. Graduate students may apply for up to a total of $750 in funding per year, with a $500 maximum per conference.
- Graduate Student Professional Development: Graduate students may apply for up to $300 to support their participation in scholarly and creative activities that add to professional development in a significant way.
- Graduate Student Research Grants: The maximum amount of the grant that students may receive in support of their research project, creative project, thesis, or dissertation is $1,000 (this dollar amount may change from year to year).
