    IUP provides faculty research funding, undergraduate student research funding, and graduate student research funding.


    For a listing of current academic year American Society of Safety Engineers Scholarships sponsored by various corporations, see the ASSE website, then select ASSE Foundation. These scholarship applications are due in December. The awards will be announced the following April–May.

    The David Johnson Family Safety Sciences Industrial Hygiene Award

    Since 1990, this award, formerly known as the Grace Allman Award, has been given annually to the student who has shown the most consistent interest and highest academic performance in the area of industrial hygiene. Safety Sciences faculty members choose one recipient each Spring semester, based on the following criteria:

    • Must be a declared major in the Department of Safety Sciences who has successfully earned at least 90 credits and is an incoming senior;
    • Must have achieved an overall QPA of at least 2.75; and
    • Consideration will be give to students with financial need.

    The award is made possible by an endowment from the Johnson family, lifelong supporters of IUP and the Safety Sciences program, honoring Grace Johnson Allman.
