National Guard Liaison
Sergeant First Class Aaron Stockwell is a Recruiting and Retention
NCO in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He was assigned to the
Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania in January 2016 as the Army National Guard liaison to the
Department of Military Science. He also serves as an instructor for
Military Science 101 and 102.
SFC Stockwell originally
enlisted as a calvary scout in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in
2003 and deployed as an armor crewman in 2005–06 in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon returning from his deployment he
transferred to Company A 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion (MI),
where he served as a human intelligence collector. While serving with
2BSTB, SFC Stockwell attended the Defense Language Institute, Foreign
Language Center, receiving an associate’s degree in Arabic. In April
2012 he applied for and was accepted into the Active Guard and Reserve
Program with the PAARNG Recruiting and Retention Battalion. From
2012 to 2016 SFC Stockwell was assigned to Friedens Armory as the
Recruiting and Retention NCO for Co C, 1-110th Infantry and the 28th
Military Police Company. In January 2016 he took over duties as the
Army National Guard liaison, IUP Army ROTC.
SFC
Stockwell’s civilian education includes a bachelor’s degree in political
science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as well as an associate’s degree in Arabic from DLIFLC. SFC Stockwell’s military
education includes the Armor Crewman course, the Human Intelligence
Collector’s course, the DLIFLC Arabic Language Course, Warrior Leader’s
Course, Recruiting and Retention NCO course, Advanced Leaders Course,
and the Recruiting and Retention NCO Conversion Course.
His
awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army
Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve
Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq
Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Army
Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, and the
National Guard Expert Recruiter Badge.
He is married to the former Kayla Mothersbaugh. They currently reside in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
