Captain Daniel L. Beckers is an officer in the Active Guard and Reserve Program and was assigned to the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December 2016 as the Army National Guard assistant professor of Military
Science. He is also serving as the executive officer.
CPT Beckers originally enlisted as an Infantryman in the Connecticut Army National Guard in 2003 and deployed in 2006–07 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). Upon returning from his deployment he transferred to the Pennsylvania Army
National Guard and enrolled in Army ROTC. He earned his commission and bachelor’s degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, located in Steubenville, Ohio, in 2010 branching Transportation Corps in the Army National Guard.
CPT Beckers began his officer career serving as maintenance platoon leader for a support company attached to an aviation battalion in the Ohio Army National Guard, maintenance control officer for an forward support company attached to a mountain infantry
battalion in the Connecticut Army National Guard, and executive officer of a forward support company attached to a brigade engineer battalion in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. His most recent assignment was as the company commander of Echo
Company 328th Brigade Support Battalion attached to the 103rd Brigade Engineer Battalion in 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 2015 to 2016. During his command, his company participated
in the 2015 Papal visit to Philadelphia.
CPT Beckers’ civilian education includes a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in Catholic theology, and he is currently pursuing his master’s degree in logistics management from the American Military University. CPT Beckers’s military education
includes the Air Assault Course, Army Reserve Officer Training Corps, Transportation Basic Officer Leader’s Course, Rappel Master Course, and Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course.
His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2CS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon; Army Reserve
Medal (with Mobilization Device), Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold).
He is married to the former Theresa Haines and has five children: Philomena, Maximilian, Thomas, Peter, and a new baby due summer 2018. They currently reside in Indiana, Pennsylvania, with their beloved German Shepherd dog, a cat, and two birds.
