The Department of Anthropology has been selected by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc. through the Department of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to continue its field study in Germany at the site of a crash of a World War II airplane. This is the third year that IUP has been involved in the DPAA mission.

Discovering New Species in Central America

Students join faculty in the field by traveling to Honduras to find new species of animals while honoring local populations and their customs. It’s a project that has led to the discovery of more than 20 new species.

IUP Receives Funding from Pennsylvania Department of Education for Program to Address Teacher Shortage, Diversity in Teacher Workforce

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has been selected to receive $72,049 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education through its Teacher Prep 2 Practice grant program. IUP’s funding will be used to design a culturally relevant teaching academy to diversify the teacher workforce and address the national teacher shortage. This work will take place in partnership with the Gateway School District in Monroeville, Allegheny County.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received $4.98 million from the Department of Defense for the first three years of a novel project to enhance Cybersecurity and STEM education in Pennsylvania (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received $40,000 from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking Grant program, with a focus on both reducing underage and dangerous drinking and increasing retention of Black and Brown students, while welcoming all students to participate in grant project related events and activities.
