Orientation

  • Parent Resources

Find answers to many of your questions, interesting facts about IUP, and learn how we will support your student.

Our office is currently working remotely. Please email us at orientation-testing@iup.edu for assistance.

Incoming students for the spring 2021 semester, freshmen and transfers, will have their schedules created after they attend their respective orientation program.  Through our interactive virtual orientation, you will meet other incoming students, as well as your student success leaders. You will also hear about the offices on campus where you can get help with anything you encounter. You’ll also learn about the experience transitioning to college living and learning.

    Checklist for New Student Orientation:

    1. Register for Orientation. We will be opening the transfer registration process in mid-October and freshmen registration in early November. Visit MyIUP to sign up for your program. An instructional video is also located there to assist with this process.
    2. Access the HAWKS 100-Getting Ready course or Transfer Pre-Orientation course (based on your admission category) to complete some pre-program tasks.
    3. Complete Placement Testing. Transfer students will be notified approximately one week before their program on what placement testing they will be required to complete.
    4. Continue to check your IUP email account.  Incoming students will receive additional program details through their IUP email account. This is the official method of communication for the university. Please be sure to check your account frequently to receive information about your orientation program and other announcements through the summer months.
    5. After participating in your program, complete the HAWKS 101 courses.

For an overview of Orientation activities, please see the Orientation Schedule page.
