Allegheny County Port Authority

  • The Port Authority of Allegheny County provides public transportation services throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. The Port Authority’s 2,500 employees operate, maintain, and support bus, light rail, incline, and paratransit services for nearly 230,000 daily riders.

    The Port Authority publicly solicits proposals on purchases for equipment, events, supplies, and construction and professional services that are anticipated to be in excess of $50,000. Advertisements for most of these events are placed in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the New Pittsburgh Courier as well as trade journals when appropriate. Approximately 115 such contracts are advertised and subsequently awarded by the Port Authority Board each year.
