Areas of Interest

  • Development, maintenance, and treatment of anxiety and depression in children and adolescents
  • Emotion regulation
  • Rumination

Current Research

My research focuses on the development of affective disorders in childhood and adolescence, emphasizing the high comorbidity between depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Recently, I have become interested in rumination, a pattern of negative unproductive thought, which is considered a transdiagnostic (common) factor across disorders. I am currently pursuing two lines of research on affective disorders in adolescents: (1) utilizing assessment studies to further develop an understanding of transdiagnostic features (e.g., rumination) that contribute to the development and maintenance of anxiety and depression, and (2) developing clinical interventions to target common factors across anxiety and depression.
