  • Those wishing to operate a drone/UAS on the IUP campus must first review the UAS/Drone Usage Policy and complete the below form for review.

    Requests will be reviewed by the Department of Public Safety.

    Has this UAS and UAS pilot been previously approved by IUP?

    Requirements

    Effective February 25, 2019: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has posted a rule in the Federal Register requiring small drone owners to display the FAA-issued registration number on an outside surface of the aircraft. Owners and operators may no longer place or write registration numbers in an interior compartment.

    All Operators

    1. Application must be submitted at least five calendar days prior to first use of the UAS.
    2. Operator must follow detailed flight plan. Any changes must be submitted and approved by the Department of Public Safety.
    3. Model aircraft must be landed immediately if an Air Medical Helicopter flight is approaching the IRMC Helipad.

    Commercial Operators

    Please submit:

    1. Detailed flight plan and intended use of collected data.
    2. Proof of FAA authorization (i.e. Remote Pilot Certificate, COA or 333).
    3. Copy of signed IUP contract, and certificate of insurance.
