About the Trains

    • The rails are owned and operated by Pittsburgh-Buffalo, which is owned by Genesee & Wyoming, a rail freight transportation company.
    • The freight trains will begin moving regularly through Indiana in September.
    • There is no set schedule for the freight trains.
    • There will be two trains a day: one loaded heading south and one unloaded heading north. Depending on the success of this venture, more trains may be added.
    • The trains will be carrying loads of coal to the Homer City power plant.
    • The trains will be moving at an average speed of 10 mph.
    • The trains will take approximately 1.5 minutes to cross each intersection.
