Music Together - Information

The IUP Community Music School is excited to partner with local Music Together® director and registered teacher Candice Bolger to offer their innovative early childhood music and movement classes. Candice is the owner of Lullaby Lounge, LLC.

Music Together® is an internationally recognized music and movement program for children birth through age five —and the grownups who love them. First offered in 1987, Music Together has been a pioneer in the field of early childhood music with innovative and high-quality music education and outreach programs that redefine what musical means.

Now with 2,500 locations in 40 countries worldwide, it is a highly research-based program, and the brainchild of composer/musician Kenneth Guilmartin, founder of the Center for Music and Young Children; and Lili Levinowitz, a national authority on early childhood music and professor of music education at Rowan University.

At the core of the Music Together approach is the idea that young children learn best from the powerful role models of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and then facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home in daily life—which is so important to music development and early childhood learning.

It’s based on the recognition that in a supportive environment, children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and confidently participate in the music of their culture. Music Together creates that environment! By emphasizing actual music-making experiences, the program introduces children to the pleasures of producing music instead of passively consuming it from iTunes or TV. It is very high-touch, face to face, heart to heart, and voice to voice—a truly bonding and enriching experience.
