At the the National Business Education Association Convention in San Diego, California, the IUP chapter of the National Business Education Honor Society received the award for outstanding chapter in the nation. Eight business education students from the Eberly College of Business and Educational Technology, along with four faculty members from the Technology Support and Training Department, attended the National Business Education Association convention on April 1–4, 2010.

The students had the opportunity to attend keynote sessions, hands-on technology workshops, and teacher practitioner presentations. A highlight of the convention was the recognition by the National Business Education Honor Society, Pi Omega Pi, for honoring the IUP Chapter (Kappa) with a first-place award as outstanding chapter in the nation. The award was based on an annual report submitted by the IUP business education chapter members describing local, community, and national projects in business education. The award was presented at a Pi Omega Pi breakfast and then announced at the closing session with more than 1,500 business teachers in attendance.
