Dr. Yaya Sissoko of the Department of Economics presented a research paper entitled “Current Account Sustainability in African Communities: Are there Regional Differences,” coauthored with Niloufer Sohrabji, at the thirty-sixth Eastern Economic Association (EEA) annual conference held in Philadelphia February 26–28, 2010.
In addition, Dr. Sissoko discussed the paper “Foreign Direct Investment and its Determinants in the Chilean Case: An Error-Correction Model Analysis, 1960–2004” by Miguel D. Ramirez and participated in the discussion of the following papers: “Social Cohesion, Poverty, and Growth in Africa” by Mina Baliamoune-Lutz and “Urban Poverty and Economic Growth in a Cross-Section of U.S. Cities” by Chris Johnson. Dr. Sissoko also attended the presidential address by N. Gregory Mankiw on “Spreading the Wealth Around: Reflections Inspired by Joe the Plumber” followed by the EEA president’s reception.
