We are once again offering five great performances, including international touring artists in our Performance Plus season. The line-up ranges from Helwig Distinguished Artist Marvin Hamlisch to the UK and Spain team of the Jones-Maruri Duo. The season also includes the Chestnut Brass Ensemble, Nichole Canusso Dance Company, and the return of the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra.
We also have a wide selection of offerings bring produced by Theater-by-the-Grove/Dance Theater and Music Theater, starting with the high-style comedy of The Importance of Being Earnest. Other theater productions include a collection of short plays titled New Works/New Voices, and The Servant of Two Masters. Dance Theater weighs in with The Collector of Beauty in the fall and the Spring Dance Performance. Music Theater presents the light opera The Merry Widow, then combines with Theater-by-the-Grove for the hit musical Sweet Charity.
For something very different, we are offering a spectacular second season of Sound Choices, featuring six special concerts presented by the Department of Music. The season starts with the annual Homecoming Concert and includes several of our premiere ensembles throughout the season. The concerts also highlight some of our faculty members and alumni as well as visiting artists, including Juan Hermida and Misa Ito visiting from the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico.
