The IUP Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Martynuik and Dr. Stanley Chepaitis, will appear at the PMEA Inservice Conference in Valley Forge, Pa., on Friday, April 24, 2009, at 10:45 a.m.
Their performance will be part of a tour that will include performances on Thursday, April 23, at Quince Orchard HS, 15800 Quince Orchard Rd, Gaithersburg, Md., at 11:45 a.m. and North Harford HS, 211 Pylesville Rd., Pylesville, Md., at 8:00 p.m. On Friday, following their performance at PMEA, they will present concerts at the Mt. Carmel Church, 58th and Race Sts., Philadelphia, at 4:00 p.m. and at Central Bucks East HS, 2804 Holicong Rd., Doylestown, at 8:00 p.m.
The program will include: Symphonic Movement "Blumine" by Gustav Mahler; Violin Concerto in D, Op. 61 by Ludwig van Beethoven, featuring Dr. Stanley Chepaitis; Requiebros by Gaspar Cassadó, featuring Dr. Linda Jennings, cello, and the orchestra wind section; and Symphony #2 by Lou Harrison.
All programs except for the PMEA performance are open to the public.
