IUP at Punxsutawney will host Wines Around the World, a wine-tasting and food-pairing event, on March 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the dining area of the campus main building, 1011 Winslow St.
Proceeds from this event will be used to fund construction of recreational facilities at IUP at Punxsutawney.
Tickets for the event are $60. Reservations are due by March 2. To make a reservation, call Bonnie Juliette, IUP director of regional advancement, at 814-938-6711.
The event will feature international and domestic wines from Dreadnought Wines and Palate Partners of Pittsburgh. Wine experts will be at the event to explain why certain wines are paired with particular foods. For each component of the evening’s meal, several different wines will be offered to taste as partners to the food being served.
Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction of wine-related items and a special live auction featuring Chef Bob Stevens of Aramark, the company that provides dining services at IUP. One of the auction prizes is a dinner for four couples prepared by Stevens at the winner’s home.
Music for the evening will be provided by guitarist Terry Sabo of Indiana.
