Lloyd Onyett, assistant dean for Technology for the College of Education and Educational Technology, gave a presentation entitled “Teaching in Virtual Worlds (Second Life)” at the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference (PETE&C) in Hershey, Pa., on February 10, 2009.
He discussed how IUP is currently using Second Life for teaching and research, and highlighted IUP plans for future uses of virtual worlds such as Second Life. More than two hundred conference participants attended his session, one of four sessions at the conference about the use of Second Life in education. The PETE&C conference attracted approximately 4,000 educators from not only Pennsylvania, but several neighboring states as well.
