Dr. John Wesley Lowery was an invited speaker at the recent Student Affairs Law and Policy Conference cosponsored by NASPA and the Stetson University College of Law. Dr. Lowery, who had spoken at the conference for the past three years, discussed proposed changes in Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as well as aspects of the Higher Education Opportunity Act directly impacting the practice of student affairs. Dr. Lowery, of the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education, is broadly regarded as one of the leading authorities on legal and legislative issues and student affairs.
