ESD Inducts New Members for Spring 2019

The 2019 Department of Hospitality Management’s Annual Recognition Dinner was held on Sunday, April 7, 2019, at the Rustic Lodge. The Department recognized student achievement, service, academic scholarship and leadership. Hospitality industry professionals were recognized for their dedicated support to the department and students. Chairperson Stephen B. Shiring, EdD, MBA was the master of ceremonies.  

Following introductions, College of Health and Human Services Dean Mary Williams welcomed the students and their families, industry professionals, faculty, and honored guests. Representing University Advancement was Emily Smeltz, development officer, CHHS.

2019 Awards Recognition Dinner - Students

The International Hospitality Management Honor Society, Eta Sigma Delta (ESD) President Jennifer Seefeld and the executive board members initiated five new student members following the candle lighting induction ceremony during the department’s awards dinner. 

To be eligible for membership in ESD, an undergraduate Hospitality Management student must:

  • Be enrolled in an institution that belongs to International CHRIE
  • Have been officially declared as a hospitality management major
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 and be in the top 10% of the class
  • Agree to uphold the values of excellence, leadership, creativity, service, and ethics

The 2019 ESD inductees are Kevin Carnvale, Jordan Dean, Matthew Marinchek, Jensen Paquette and Brandon Weller.

The ESD officers are President Jennifer Seefeld, Vice President Amy Heggenstaller, Secretary Melanie Logenhagen, Treasurer Melissa Colbaugh, Fundraising and Service Chairperson Issac Lowe, Public Relations Chairperson Andrea Zagorski, Mentor Program Coordinator Jennifer Seefeld, and Hospitality Ambassador Coordinators Jennifer Seefeld and Megan Perz. Faculty advisor is Nicole Buse. 

The Department of Hospitality Management is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Management (ACPHA).
