A collaborative partnership has been formed between the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Indiana County Area chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Members of the IUP chapter have attended two meetings so far and heard from two very interesting presenters.
The first presenter was Rick L. Etter, partner of labor and employment at Fox Rothschild LLP. Rick presented “The Wage and Hour Mistakes That Cost Employers Millions: Best Practices to Prevent a Class or Collective Action Lawsuit,”. Members in attendance found this topic very useful in application to today’s changing workforce and economy.
The speaker for March was Dr. Catherine Giunta, SHRM-SCP, SPHR who is a professor at the school of business at Seton Hill University. Dr. Giunta presented “Artificial Intelligence: Impact on Employees and Customers. Should we love or fear AI?” The members found this topic very engaging and important as they look at the future of employment in the United States and the effect that artificial intelligence has on our job markets.
Through this two-way partnership, Eberly College of Business HR Management students have the opportunity to attend monthly meetings with the Indiana County Area professional chapter and are given the opportunity to network with area Human Resource Management professionals with experience in the field that the students are gaining degrees towards. The IUP chapter looks forward to continuing and strengthening its partnership with ICASHRM.
“We look forward to continuing our two-way partnership with ICASHRM as it provides Eberly College of Business Human Resource Management students the opportunity to develop their professional business acumen while networking with local HR professionals in the community,” said Jason Wendel, President of IUP SHRM
