Libraries, in partnership with the IUP Free Speech Project, will host a
workshop on fake news and a Speech Space session on Thursday, November 8, 2018,

people believe it, and how to discuss it when discovered.
The Fake News
Workshop will be hosted by Maria Barefoot, instruction librarian, and begins at 11:00 a.m. in Stabley 201.
The Free Speech
Project’s Speech Space will also make an appearance in the library that day
during one of their pop-up sessions.
for tips throughout Media Literacy Week about how to recognize fake news, and the role
libraries and librarians play in combating fake news.
There will also be a display, developed by the IUP Libraries
and the Free Speech Project, on the first floor of
the library presenting a historical look at free speech. Items from
the Dr. Charles McCollester Broadside Collection from IUP Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives are on display along with more information concerning the FSP.
