Alumna Mauchant Shares Finance Expertise with Eberly Students

On October 5, 2018, IUP alumna Florence Mauchant M’87 visited the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology and made a presentation to over 50 students in the Financial Institutions and Markets and Fundamentals of Finance classes.

Florence Mauchant talking to Eberly students Mauchant shared her experiences as she navigated the field of finance in internships and positions in New York City, reviewed trends in finance careers that included the important role that technology plays, and talked about the importance of volunteerism and its ability to serve a greater purpose and enrich an individual’s networks and knowledge base. Lastly, she shared her experience in the Harvard Advanced Leadership Program in Social Entrepreneurship.    

Robert Camp, dean of the Eberly College, whose own background is in the field of finance, attended Mauchant’s presentation. “I have long admired Florence’s truly outstanding career in investment banking. Florence Mauchant M'87 and Eberly students Mauchant has spent her entire professional career in the field of finance working for and with some of the top international companies. Currently, Mauchant is a partner in the middle market New York City-based investment bank HT Capital Advisors, LLC where she heads up the firm’s asset management activity and has responsibility for the strategic direction of the firm and cross border new business activity. Before joining HT Capital Advisors in 1999, Mauchant worked for Schroders, a United Kingdom-based merchant bank, as a vice president in their Structured Investments group. There, she was responsible for developing a global clientele of portfolio managers and corporations needing equity and credit derivatives. Her role also entailed the purchase of distressed financial assets from European based institutions. Prior to joining Schroders, Mauchant spent seven years with Generale Bank, the largest Belgian Bank, now part of the BNP Paribas group. Leading one of three teams, she was responsible for marketing the services of the bank to United States-based multinational corporations. Transactions included acquisition financing, leveraged buyouts, asset based financing, and general corporate needs. Her responsibilities also included the analysis and valuation of companies and projects. 

Mauchant successfully completed, in December 2017, a one-year fellowship at Harvard’s prestigious Advanced Leadership Initiative program, where she developed a working thesis and business model advocating the expanded use of social media technology to enhance the well-being and lifestyles of the elderly who live in dedicated housing facilities. 

In addition to her responsibilities at HT Capital and the implementation of the project developed while attending the ALI program, Mauchant maintains an active role in various not-for-profit and civic groups. She served as a trustee at the Lycée Français de New York, a leading French-American K-12 school in the United States, and was chairperson for the school’s investment committee.

Mauchant received her graduate degree from the Institut Commercial de Nancy (France) and holds a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She also is a chartered financial analyst. Mauchant has been named a chevalier of the Order of the Academic Palms by the French government and has promoted the advancement of women as a board member of the French American Chamber of Commerce. She is a honoree of the IUP Business Hall of Distinction and received the Distinguished Alumni Award from IUP.
